During our typography unit in technology, we learned about typography. Typography is the art of arranging text in a way that makes it visually appealing. Its also the difference between different styles of text that create distinct appearances.
Serif fonts are typefaces that have small strokes or extensions at the end of the letters or longer strokes. Some popular serif fonts include Times New Roman, Georgia, Garamond, Baskerville, and many more. Serif typefaces are said to evoke feelings of history, tradition, and professionalism.
San serif fonts are another typeface, opposite to Serif. San serif fonts are considered more modern than Serif fonts. The dont have the strokes on the ends of the letters like Serif fonts do. Some commonly used San Serif fonts include Helvetica, Futura, Ariel, Comfortaa, and more. San Serif typefaces are known to indicate something is modern, clean, minimal, or friendly.
Monospaced fonts are fonts where their letters each occupy the same amount of space. Types of monospaced fonts include Inconsolata and Courier.
A handwritten font is anything which looks as though it may have been written by hand. There are tons of different styles, including fancy cursive options, and scratchier, more childlike writing. This type of font can be hard to use in graphic design.
